Sense Doors: Tongue

Published by yogisam at 11:47 am under Uncategorized Edit This

This is an in depth look at what is called the law of karma in teravadan Buddhism. its quite interesting and detailed and will serve an important keystone to the understanding of the Hinayana path. When jivha base comes into contact with six types of taste - sweet, sour, hot, salty, astringent, bitter, tongue consciousness called jivha vinnana arises.

When jivha vinnana arises, can it arise alone? It cannot.

Accompaniments of jivha vinnana which are feeling, perception, volition (vedana, sanna, cetana) also arise.

Jivha vinnana, combined with feeling, perception, volition, make the four mental phenomena (namakkhandha.)

Jivha base and six types of taste are physical phenomena (rupakkhandha.)
